BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Dr. Kathleen Muhonen is an Assistant Professor at Penn State Behrend in Erie, PA.  Here she teaches the Microelectronic sequence, VLSI and a Microwave Wireless course.  Her research includes RF on-chip ESD protection and testing, Transmission Line Pulsing for ESD testing, Pulsed IV for device testing and Linearization techniques for RF Power Amplifiers.  She received her Ph.D. from Penn State at University Park, M.S. from Syracuse University and her B.S. from Michigan Technological University.

Kathleen Muhonen has had extensive experience in industry.  Recently she has worked for RF Micro Devices, (RFMD), in Greensboro, North Carolina.  As a systems engineer, she gained experience on transceiver chip sets that needed factory calibration of the digital predistorter of the RF power amplifier.  Other work she did in systems included FaST DC/DC converters for high efficiency GSM EDGE amplifiers.  As a design engineer she has also worked on GSM and CDMA amplifiers for front end modules and on-chip ESD solutions for GaAs HBT power amplifiers.  Prior to RFMD, Kathleen has worked for GE Aerospace as a device engineer working on millimeter-wave GaAs PHEMT amplifiers.  She also went to the University of California at Davis for one year to gain exposure to research in digital communications.  While in California, she was employed at Hewlett Packard, (now Agilent); there she worked on base station amplifiers for cellular applications.
