BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Dr. Robert A. Gray earned a Ph.D. in EE from The Ohio University and a MSEE from the United States Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT).  He is currently an Assistant Professor of Engineering at Penn State Erie and the Director of the Center for Navigation, Communication & Information Systems at the Pennsylvania Transportation Institute, Penn State University, University Park, Pennsylvania. His technical practice involves wireless communication, guidance & controls systems, including integration of GPS, Inertial Navigation, MEMs and Radar systems.  Previous experience before joining Penn State included: Senior Engineer of wireless remote control locomotive systems, GE Transportation Systems; Avionics Systems & Research Engineer for sensor fusion & GPS/Inertial Navigation systems integration, USAF; and field maintenance and reconnaissance aircraft flight crew support, while an active duty USAF member. Gray’s current Intelligent Vehicle Research involves the design and test of wireless remote monitoring & diagnostics (RM&D) systems for rail transportation equipment, RFID systems integration for supply chain management, and the design, integration and test of vehicle synthetic vision systems to enhance situational awareness, using digital terrain elevation data. Dr. Gray has two patents related to his work.
